Taunton Carnival Committee is a voluntary organisation whose main aim is to raise money for local charities. It was set up in 1968 to organising the town's annual October procession. In 1983 it combined with others to organise the Taunton Marathon & Half Marathon under the banner Taunton Marathon Committee. Since 1992 it has been the sole organiser of the races, but retains the 'nom de plume' of the Marathon Committee.

All the surplus made on our road races goes to fund the October procession. This means we are able to pass over to local charities everything that is collected on Carnival night plus usually a bit more.
